The Higher Education Council organizes a collaborative forum between the University of Cyprus and higher education institutions in the Kingdom.

The Higher Education Council, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized a virtual participatory forum between the University of Cyprus and higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The forum was chaired by Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, and attended by His Excellency Mr. Andreas Eliades, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council.

At the beginning of the forum, which was attended by representatives from the University of Cyprus and 16 higher education institutions in Bahrain, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami highlighted the importance of such initiatives in developing the higher education system and promoting higher education institutions in the Kingdom. She noted that the forum aims to enhance opportunities for international cooperation in higher education and explore partnership avenues, expanding horizons in various fields of higher education and scientific research between the two sides. She emphasized the Higher Education Council's commitment, under the leadership of His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council, to support educational institutions in effective collaboration with prestigious international universities regarding academic programs, scientific research, and mutual exchanges, with the goal of enhancing academic excellence, improving educational outcomes, and contributing to the knowledge-based economy and achieving sustainable development. She also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for coordinating the forum in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council.

During the forum, participating educational institutions and the academic programs offered by both the Cypriot and Bahraini sides were introduced. Representatives of the higher education institutions expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss ways for joint cooperation between the two parties.

Her Excellency Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, held a meeting with a delegation from George Washington University, accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain and its President.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Jahrami emphasized the Higher Education Council's commitment, under the leadership of the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council, to support the programs of higher education institutions hosted in collaboration with prestigious global universities, in accordance with the established regulatory frameworks.

During the meeting, the delegation presented the latest developments concerning the outcomes of the Master’s program in Engineering Management offered by George Washington University at the University of Bahrain. They also discussed the developmental plans for this program and several other programs provided by the University of Bahrain.

The meeting was attended by department directors from the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council, along with specialists from both sides.

 

The Higher Education Council explores avenues for collaboration with the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award.

Her Excellency Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, met with a delegation from the Board of Trustees of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, including Mr. Talal Fawzi Kanoo, Dr. Ibrahim Jamal Al-Hashimi, Dr. Nazem Saleh Al-Saleh, Dr. Walid Khalil Zubari, and Mr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman Darwish, the Secretary-General of the award.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Jahrami praised the role of the Board of Trustees, chaired by the distinguished Khalid bin Mohammed Kanoo, and highlighted the importance of the award in fostering thought and scientific research. She noted that the award stimulates the scientific and research environment to encourage creativity and excellence in the Arab world, thanks to the diversity of its scientific fields since its establishment in 1998.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to collaborate between the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council and the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award. This collaboration aims to raise awareness of the award within higher education institutions and enhance the participation of researchers and academics in applying for its various fields. This initiative reflects a commitment to the importance of scientific research in supporting the national economy, promoting sustainable development, and improving the global rankings of higher education institutions in Bahrain, as well as developing the research skills of academic bodies and students.

The Higher Education Council organized a collaborative forum between Canadian and Bahraini higher education institutions to explore avenues for cooperation in higher education and scientific research. The event was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, and the Canadian delegation, led by His Excellency Jean-Philippe Linteau, the Canadian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which included representatives from 22 Canadian higher education institutions. The Bahraini side was represented by presidents and representatives from 17 public and private higher education institutions, along with several officials from the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council.

At the beginning of the forum, Dr. Al-Jahrami emphasized Bahrain's commitment to the sustainable advancement of its higher education system to develop a knowledge-based economy. She highlighted the Council's ongoing efforts, under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Jumaa, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council, to propel educational institutions and their outputs to the forefront of academic excellence. She cited statistics demonstrating the diversity of the higher education landscape in Bahrain regarding programs and specializations, as well as the promotion of an environment conducive to innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. This environment aims to equip university students to face various challenges in the job market and contribute to sustainable development.

Dr. Al-Jahrami noted that the forum aims to enhance international cooperation opportunities in higher education and promote the academic programs offered by institutions, alongside collaborating with pioneering companies to explore partnership avenues and broaden horizons in various fields of higher education and scientific research. This forum with the Canadian side specifically seeks to strengthen collaboration in these areas.

In turn, the Canadian Ambassador stressed the importance of cooperation between Bahraini and Canadian higher education institutions and the exchange of academic expertise that contributes to providing learning and professional development opportunities for university students. He commended the efforts of the Higher Education Council in organizing this unique forum.
